The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) officially came into effect on January 1, 2022. RCEP has officially come into effect for 10 countries including Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Japan, New Zealand, and Australia. South Korea will join the effective implementation on February 1st. The remaining member states will also take effect gradually after completing their domestic approval procedures.


After 8 years of negotiations, RCEP was signed on November 15, 2020. Through joint efforts of all parties, it reached the effective threshold on November 2, 2021. The effective implementation of RCEP marks the official landing of the world's most populous, largest economic and trade area, and most promising free trade zone. It fully reflects the confidence and determination of all parties to jointly maintain multilateralism and free trade, promote regional economic integration, and make important contributions to regional and even global trade and investment growth, economic recovery, and prosperous development.

With the official entry into force of RCEP, starting from January 1, 2022, China will fully fulfill all commitments and obligations under the RCEP agreement, including the immediate implementation of zero tariffs on a large number of products.
